Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
| Is Zanera free to play? | Zanera is free to play, but access to certain exclusive content and features may require a premium account. |
| What client version do I need? | Zanera runs on a custom client. To connect successfully, please download the official client from our Downloads page, as other clients are not supported. |
| How do I create a character? | Register an account, then log in to your account page and click the Create Character button. Each account may have up to 8 characters. |
| Where do new characters start? | Every new character starts on Rookgaard, the island for beginners. Once you reach level 8, speak with the Oracle to choose your vocation and continue your adventure on the Mainland. |
Gameplay
| What vocations are available? | Knight, Paladin, Sorcerer, and Druid — each with a promoted form at level 20. See the What is Zanera page for a full breakdown. |
| Is PvP enabled? | Yes. Zanera uses Open PvP with the full skull system. You can attack other players anywhere outside of protected zones, but unjustified kills result in skulls and may lead to banishment. |
| What happens when I die? | Death results in experience and skill loss according to classic 7.72 mechanics. You may also lose items upon death, so tread carefully in dangerous areas. |
| Can I use bots or macros? | No. Bots, auto-clickers, macros, and any automation software are strictly forbidden and will result in a permanent ban. |
Accounts & Characters
| Can I have multiple characters? | Yes. One account can hold multiple characters. However, using multiple accounts to gain unfair advantages — such as blocking spawns or assisting yourself in PvP — is against the rules. |
| I forgot my password. What do I do? | Use the Forgot Password link on the login page. A reset link will be sent to the email address registered to your account. |
| Can I change my character name? | Character name changes can be requested through your account page and require 30 days of premium time. |
Guilds & Houses
| How do I create a guild? | Visit the Guilds page while logged in. You need to be at least level 20 and provide a unique guild name. |
| How do houses work? | Houses are auctioned — the highest bidder wins. Auctions run for 1 hour after the first bid; the winner is determined at the next server restart after the auction expires. Rent is paid monthly. If rent goes unpaid for more than 7 days the house is lost and auctioned again. |
| Can my guild own a house? | Guildhalls are available for guilds. They function the same as player houses but are larger and can be shared with guild members. |
Technical
| What operating systems are supported? | The client runs on Windows. Linux and macOS users can run it through Wine or a compatibility layer. |
| The server is not showing up in my client. What's wrong? | Make sure you are using the Zanera client from the Download page, not a client from elsewhere. Also verify the login server address is entered correctly. |
| Where is the server hosted? | East Canada. Players from other regions can connect but may experience higher latency. |
| When is the daily server save? | Check the Server Info page for the current server save time — it is updated live from the world data. |
Staff & Support
| How do I report a bug or exploit? | Contact staff directly. Do not exploit the bug before reporting it — doing so may result in punishment. |
| How do I report another player? | Contact a Game Master in-game or reach out through our community channels with evidence of the violation. |
| I was banned and believe it was a mistake. What can I do? | Contact staff through the official channels with a clear explanation. Staff decisions are final but appeals are reviewed fairly. |
| Will staff ever ask for my password? | Never. Any message claiming to be staff and asking for your password is a scam. |
